Forgetfulness and Faithfulness

I forget so easily.

Doubt kicks in, worry creeps up, obstacles arise, and I forget.

I forget that God has never let me down. That God has never let anybody down.

I forget that God knows my thoughts even before I think them, I forget that He goes before me and prepares the way.

Faced with what seems like a mountain-sized problem, I forget that it is barely a bump in the road for my God.

Again and again, I worry.

Again and again, He provides.

Know that whatever you are worrying about right now, whatever you are facing – God not only will provide, He has already set everything perfectly in place for that provision.

Moses’ words to Joshua are words to us as well.

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8

Remember His faithfulness

I started journalling my intentional time with God two years ago. I have two full journals and one in progress, and the only reason I haven’t burned the old ones (so much drama is recounted on those pages…) is because of how strongly they display the Fathers faithfulness to me. To read an entry from my first journal, and then to the one I am writing in now would be like reading words from two different people.

Not only has God carried me further than I ever thought possible, but He has also shown me time and time again that He is trustworthy. That He is faithful. That He sustains not only me but all of creation.

One of the most liberating things we can do in our lives is to come into this realization.

He is Provider. Meaning, that God supplies all our needs (And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.)

He is Sustainer. Meaning, that he upholds, supports, continues our life. (Cast your burden on the Lordand he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved)

It sets us free from the pattern of worry. Allows us to breathe again, frees up our heart to trust more, love deeper and serve well.

How will you remember His faithfulness this week?

Will you bring your worries to God and be met by his kind and sustaining hand?

His way is so much better, take His Word for it.

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
    to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
to declare your steadfast love in the morning,
and your faithfulness by night, Psalm 92:1-2

All the love!
